Welcome
Thank you for coming to visit Ruth Greening Designs.
I am happy to introduce you to my art and my passions.
My love of creating jewelry has been a journey of many years. The bulk of my work is now in the realm of traditional Silversmithing skills. I also have many years of experience using and teaching Precious Metal Clay and Classical Wire Wrapping.
In my Silversmith work, I love to use unusual, beautiful natural stones which I get from some of the best lapidary artists in the U.S., for the creation of one of a kind settings in silver and/or copper.

My latest passion is the ancient art of Repousse'.
Repoussé is a metalworking technique that involves hammering the back of a malleable metal to create a design in low relief (a.k.a. bas relief) The word repoussé comes from the French word pousser, which means "to push forward". The process is often used in conjunction with another technique known as chasing, which involves hammering the front of the metal to sink it to create a design. When used together, the two techniques can create a 3D look. Working with small handcrafted steel forming tools, hammers, sandbags and pitch pots, it takes many hours to raise and refine the metal into beautiful works of art. Each design is unique because of the hand-crafted work
